Special Recognition Award

Crossroads Care has been honoured with an Oxfordshire Care Award. Chief Executive Mary Rainford was presented the award for her dedication to care in Oxfordshire and beyond for over 40 years. She insists that the award is for the whole of Crossroads as it is a team effort.

Mary says to all Crossroads staff and volunteers: “A huge congratulations – Crossroads has won a Special Recognition Award from Adult Social Care Awards 2024, for exceptional services given to clients and their families. They named quite a few examples, every single one I recognised, and it was all down to you as a team making things happen.

Without you all there would be no Crossroads.  I am so proud of every single one of you and thank you for your dedication and compassion, for the work we do. It was totally unexpected. I had no idea it was being presented to me today at a meeting. (I would have dressed smartly!!) but was proud to accept it.”

The Oxfordshire Care Awards recognises and celebrates individuals, organisations and companies, who have demonstrated outstanding excellence within the care sector in Oxfordshire. The partners are Action for Carers Oxfordshire, Age UK Oxfordshire, Oxfordshire Association of Care Providers and Oxfordshire County Council working together at the heart of these local Awards.

Eddie McDowall, Chief Executive of the Oxfordshire Association of Care Providers presented the award at a quarterly OACP meeting, “It was my immense pleasure to award Mary a Special Recognition Award as part of the Oxfordshire Care Awards 2024 to recognise her achievements in adult social care over many years. Mary typifies the selfless service that often goes unnoticed, and such is Mary’s impact that we created a new award especially for her this year. To be able to present her with the Award in front of her peers was a terrific opportunity for colleagues across Oxfordshire to express their recognition too.”

Mary was nominated by a client of Crossroads who has benefited from the service for many years and wishes to remain anonymous.
