Parkinson’s Exercises to Live Music, Abingdon

This group runs once a week in Abingdon and is open to all living with Parkinson’s.  The group offers a chance for people of all abilities to stretch and move under the supervision of a qualified physiotherapist, accompanied by a live pianist!  Transport is available and qualified care workers are on hand to assist those that need it.

The group is not just about exercise, it’s a chance to socialise and gives the opportunity for any carer at home to have a few hours away from their caring duties.  Tea and biscuits are obligatory. A pay-what-you-can scheme is in operation.

The Vincent Project (Oxfordshire) was founded in memory of a Crossroads Care service user and seeks to open the arts to people with care needs and those who assist them. It has links to theatres, galleries, music and art spaces in both Oxford and London and often gets free or reduced-priced tickets for events and shows, including backstage tours.

Caravans to rent at Butlin’s Minehead

We have two caravans available for rent at Butlin’s in Minehead, Somerset, on a not-for-profit basis. If funds are available, we donate holidays to unpaid carers and people with care needs. The caravans are unfortunately not suitable for wheelchair users.

The caravan park is adjacent to the beach (5 mins walk) and Butlin’s facilities are included in the caravan rental.  Both caravans are clean and comfortable with one double room and two twins each with small bunks ideal for children.

There are free fairgrounds (one for little kids) and a great swimming pool with various slides. There is always some free entertainment like a pantomime and dance show.. There is an extra charge for other activities like mini golf and petrol go-karting. The site boasts various eateries and stages. Supermarkets are within easy walking distance and Minehead town is also on your doorstep. Fish and chips and ice creams on the beach!

Check online first before you decide when to book as some weeks are for families and others for adults only. See https://www.butlins.com/resorts/minehead

Bookings for our caravans are taken by Jane in the Oxford office. Call 01865 260 280.
