Training

Our Training

If you haven’t worked as a care worker before, then do not worry. We pay for your training and a senior care worker will work alongside you until you completed your induction.

Induction training takes place over several days (around 20 hours). It includes training in:

  • safe administration of medicines
  • safe moving and handling for customers who are infirm or who have physical disabilities
  • first aid training from St John Ambulance Service
  • safe use of customer care records in accordance with the General Data Protection Act
  • cyber security
  • care plan management and communications using the Crossroads Care App
We also offer opportunities to develop as a care worker, for example to work towards RQF qualifications in Health and Social Care level 2 and 3.

Specialist Courses

Our team includes specialist care workers for customers with complex medical needs and long-term health conditions. Everyone receives the specialist training courses they need in order to provide safe and compassionate care for each individual customer.

For example, our specialist adult and children’s care workers, who manage customers with complex medical needs, can receive training in:

  • seizure management
  • gastrostomy feeds
  • flushes
  • bowel care management
  • oxygen management
  • resuscitation
  • feeding and swallowing
